Studies show that pursuing goals that are in alignment with our core values is a key to happiness. That sounds so simple, doesn’t it? But what are your core values? If someone asked you now, would your answer be the same tomorrow? What do you value in life? I value fresh baked homemade chocolate chip cookies fresh out of the oven. I value my best friend who can make me laugh even after a cancer diagnosis. I value the sky at sunrise with the sounds of nature awakening. I value integrity.
So how do you define your values and decide on your purpose in life? How do you create a vision and define your goals? And then, what action steps can you take to pursue those goals? What small tasks will you do every day to get closer to achieving them? Therein lies the key to happiness. And that’s why I love my job.
As a coach, I help my clients define their values, their purpose and their vision. I help them set goals and make plans to achieve them. Most importantly, I hold them accountable for their actions until it is habit and they feel success. When their actions are in alignment with their values, they achieve happiness! Hooray! And then I am happy, too! Happiness all around! What’s not to love?
